Lewiston - Farwell School

Students & Families

Hop on board the Walking School Bus – all children are welcome to join this fun, safe, and active initiative!   If you live within 1 mile of the Farwell School then the Walking School Bus (WSB) is ideal for you.  If your child(ren) would like to participate in the WSB, please complete the Student Registration Form here (also available in paper form at the school office).

The school will operate Walking School Bus routes daily (with school-wide walk and bike encouragement as well). The program will continue to register and place students on routes over the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 school years.

Community Volunteers

Volunteer Walk Leaders are the wonderful backbone of the Walking School Bus Program! See the Volunteer Walk Leader job description here.

Looking for a great new way to get in a healthy dose of exercise and fresh air and connect with your community?  Interested in helping kids and improving safety?  We are continually recruiting volunteers to share one or two walks a week through the Walking School Bus Program at the Farwell School.

View this short video on “What Volunteers are Saying” about the Maine Walking School Bus Program. And, for a first-hand perspective on volunteering, check out this article on two community WSB volunteers in Portland.

Volunteer training sessions are available, so please register your interest in becoming a Volunteer Walk Leader here!
